Sanskar Sawant

Visual Artist & Illustrator

Sanskar Sawant AKA Chew’d Perfect is a visual artist and illustrator based out of Bombay. Sanskar likes painting on unconventional structures and often builds his own canvases, which are later put to use. That way, he can claim himself to be the biggest consumer of his own art! Sanskar thrives on the hustle to create these objects on a daily, to build an entire environment to live and function in. It’s all about having fun with many innovations, one medium at a time! Sanskar runs a design studio called Homework Coolkids which specialises in environmental fashion, installation art and audiovisual experiences. Right from making corporate offices fun places to work out of to creating festival languages to designing hypecourts and hypeskateparks, Homework Coolkids believes in creating an impact and better experiences through public art and installations.

The Story

A celebration of graffiti, boldness and funky emojis, the Arty Party kicks are a fun take on fashion, subcultures and what makes visual artwork. This design is inspired by daily objects like sticky notes, reminders, ‘Tested OK’ tags and other stationary, resulting in off-the-wall kicks. My intent has always been to create impact through public art and installations, and later get into fashion and other subcultures. The street art personality allows me to experiment on preexisting canvases on the streets. My body of work also includes a pack of emoticons I call “Chewdax” which started more like an ALTER EGO but has now found its way to the mainstream in my collaborations with brands, helping me put out merchandise and a more graphic face to myself. I liken my practice to that of an analogous graphic designer; everything has to be produced in space, and digital art stays as a detailed attended blueprint. The production usually takes a lot of time and energy out of me, and celebrating those challenges is the only way I stay hooked! My homies from other subcultures often come to check up on me at the studio and end up getting their hands dirty, and I take pride in satisfying their subconscious curiosity with visual art.
